2012 Portfolio, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon

2012 Portfolio, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2012 is the biggest Portfolio Cab we've tried to date...it's a massive wine with plenty of creamy and spicy black currant and black cherry fruit which will require for the wine to be decanted in the morning in order to be enjoyed for dinner...yes, it's that big and structured but you will then be rewarded with something very special in your glass.

2013 Paloma, Napa Valley, Merlot

2013 Paloma, Napa Valley, Merlot

The 2013 Paloma shows wonderfully sweet-natured scents to contrast the tightly-coiled fruit and terroir notes so apparent on the palate. The nose offers focused aromas of sweet purple plum jelly, dried Bing cherry, licorice root, sweet vanilla, baking spices and developing hints of dark earth and black truffle. It is both plush and gripping in the mouth, which gives a racy texture to the deep plum and dried cherry fruit, while bringing focus to the hard mineral and dark spice flavors that support it. The finish is also sleek, but it's ultra-long, despite the wine's youth and structure.
2013 Robert Biale, Basic Black Red Blend, Sonoma County

2013 Robert Biale, Basic Black Red Blend, Sonoma County

Exploding aromas of blackberry, dried apricot, dried cherries, jasmine tea, minerals, graphite, rosemary, fennel seed, forest duff, bread grains and almond pastry. Flavors of milk chocolate and dark fruits are integrated and proportioned across a foundation of dense tannins for beautiful mouth feel, fresh and snappy acidity, and ripe fruit.
2013 Stack House Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

2013 Stack House Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

This 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Stack House is an elegant sleeper selection and a terrific value from Napa Valley. This blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot and Merlot was aged in two-thirds new French oak for almost two years prior to bottling. Finesse style black and red currants compete with some tobacco leaf and loamy soil undertones in a medium-bodied, deliciously fruity, sexy style that offers immediate drinkability and can actually age decently for up to 7-8 years.
2013 Tor, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon

2013 Tor, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2013 Napa Cabernet is easily the finest example of this wine to date. The inclusion of the Vine Hill Ranch Petit Verdot has given the wine a rich, intense mid palate that shows plum, spices, incense and raw meats. The finish on this is at least 40 seconds long and tails off with bright cleansing acidity from the PV and sweet round tannins from the Cabernet. As delicious as this is now, it shows the core of fruit and texture that should allow it to age for at least 5 years
2013 Watermark, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

2013 Watermark, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Watermark is the personal project from famed Diamond Creek's winemaker Phil Steinschriber. The wine offers some rich cabernet notes of black cherries, anise and dark fruit. Highly concentrated with addition of 100% new French oak yielding vanilla and toast notes. The wine is thick, mouth filling and rounds out in the middle. Notes of anise, mineral and dark cassis. This wine can be laid down for years to come.
2013 Wes Mar Pinot Noir Russian River

2013 Wes Mar Pinot Noir Russian River

Aromas of strawberry and raspberry. Flavors of bright raspberry, red plums and black tea are wonderfully accentuated by a brisk acidity and mouth watering finish. 2014 Aldenalli Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

2014 Aldenalli Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Great balance. Soft up front but clean acidity brings it together nicely. Spice and waxy red fruit aromas. Plump and silky on the palate. A very generously textured wine, but not overburdened in body. A new favorite of ours at V Wine Cellar, this wine sings harmoniously and just plain delicious.
2014 Bench, Napa Valley, Circa 64, Cabernet Sauvignon

2014 Bench, Napa Valley, Circa 64, Cabernet Sauvignon

Partnering with Jim Barbour on the vineyard side, Mike Smith's goal for Bench Vineyards is to craft modern elegant wines that reflect the uniqueness of their Stags Leap District's location. There is a great sense of velvety texture and melted tannins in this cabernet blend. Rich and luscious aromas of black fruit with lingering notes of cocoa, lead pencil shavings and licorice. Very harmonious, everything is in balance here. Age-worthy, refreshing acidity on the finish.

2014 Bevan, Napa Valley, Ontogeny Red Wine

A big fruit bomb that leaves you near dead of too much pleasure and wanting more, it boasts a dense purple color as well as loads of crème de cassis, tobacco leaf, underbrush, graphite, lavender, roasted meats and blackberries. 2014 Frias Family, Napa Valley, Prado Cabernet Sauvignon

Frias’ Prado is hands down a true expression of a great Napa Valley Cabernet from the Oakville floor. This extraordinary wine offers up inky jam colored hue with wonderfully sweet notes of blue and black fruits in melody with orange peel and floral notes. In the mouth, the texture is soft and loaded with Cavendish tobacco, cocoa powder, blueberry, licorice, vanilla and violet notes. The oak seems perfectly integrate and the wine is full-bodied and multi-dimensional with an extremely long and pure finish.

2014 LAZ, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2014 LAZ, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

What strike us from the first moment we tasted this cab was its silky texture and how incredibly approachable the wine was for being very young (it's a 2014 after all). Aromas of cocoa dust and purple fruit lead onto the palate with refined notes of cassis, violets, mocha and a touch of crushed graphite. The wine then expands onto the palate with secondary notes of subtle, sweet cedar and seamless tannins. Great finish and a perfect candidate to cellar for a few years.

2014 Olema Chardonnay Sonoma County

2014 Olema Chardonnay Sonoma County

This is really refined and fresh with sliced apple and lemon aromas. Hints of stone too. Medium to full body, an almost salty undertone. Medium finish. Bright and tangy. Gorgeous limey undertone
2014 Philip Togni Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

2014 Philip Togni Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Dense ruby/purple color, loads of blackcurrant, licorice, and graphite, some earth and spice, but very subtle earth nuances. It is full-bodied and rich, but the tannins are well-integrated and don't scream as loudly as some vintages of Togni can. For Togni, this is probably one of his more forward and precociously styled Cabernets. It will probably approach drinkability in several years, but don't discount its aging potential, as this easily has 20-25 years of cellaring potential.

2014 Picayune, Napa Valley, Padlock Red Blend

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. All 3 varietals were aged in 60 gallon French barrels for 15 months. Deep layers of black cherries, cassis, blackberries, cocoa, currants and bit of truffle on the nose, the wine is beautiful and seductive. An Elegant , round, and rich mid palate with an attractive texture and excellent acidity, Padlock, our first red blend, is sexy but well balanced with good depth and length.
2014 Relic The Sage Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast

2014 Relic The Sage Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast

These 1980's Old Wente plantings near Occidental keep giving Relic amazing fruit! They treat this very traditionally, with barrel fermentation and natural malolactic, and never filter it. It settles beautifully, never gets buttery and remains centered on citrus and minerality - just how we like it. This year, the flavors are as focused as ever with lemon curd, flint, chalk, clove and light vanilla notes on a linear frame, which fans out across the palate in waves of rich, intense fruit.
2014 Senses, Sonoma Coast, Charles Heintz Chardonnay

2014 Senses, Sonoma Coast, Charles Heintz Chardonnay

One of the great grand cru Chardonnay sites in California. Honeysuckle on the nose and bursting with tropical fruit. There are beautiful expressions of yellow apple, meyer lemon, and chamomile throughout the palate. The texture is rewarding with a rich mouthfeel and elegant acidity on the finish.
2014 Teeter Totter, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon

2014 Teeter Totter, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2014 Teeter Cab brings it with a one-two punch of fresh blackberry and mocha, served up with a slice of warm raspberry pie. Subtler notes of thyme, violet, lavender, pomegranate and smoke keep you on your toes, and nominate this wine as your new Grill Night go-to. A handful of warm spices rounds out the palate with aromatic intrigue, and plumps up the lingering red fruit finish.
2014 Waterfall, Sonoma Coast, Pinot Noir

2014 Waterfall, Sonoma Coast, Pinot Noir

This wine is greatly inspired by a love for Burgundy reds and our desire to showcase the tremendous potential of the Sonoma Coast when it comes to producing world-class Pinot Noirs. On the nose, the flavors wrap around some generous layers of dark morello cherries, crushed rocks, rose petals and fresh thyme. Flavors of cardamom, truffle, violet and white pepper greet us on the palate. No fining or filtration, the texture is defined by silky tannins matched by a refreshing acidity. Additional notes of ginger and licorice linger on a seamless finish.
2015 Habit, Santa Inez, Jurrasic Park Chenin Blanc

2015 Habit, Santa Inez, Jurrasic Park Chenin Blanc

If you peruse any of the best wine lists in California chances are you'll find something from rising star Jeff Fischer's Habit wines. A "garagiste" winemaker, Jeff has been able to achieve a remarkable sense of balance in his wines as they definitely speak to the area they are from. The small production Habit Chenin Blanc comes from the Jurassic Park Vineyard, which boasts sandy loam soils perfect for producing Old World style Chenin Blanc. The 2015 offers some wonderful floral notes of white flowers combined with white peach and papaya. Loads of minerality, meyer lemon and a racy acidity.
2015 Immix, Napa Valley, Sauvignon Blanc

2015 Immix, Napa Valley, Sauvignon Blanc

Visually, the wine bursts with light gold complexion. In the glass, the wine demonstrates classic aromas of passion fruit, jasmine, fresh cantaloupe, and bright pineapple. The flavors present as limestone, Asian pear, and lemon rind. Opening with a soft attack, it builds to a rich, elegant mid-palate, culminating in a crisp, dry, mineral finish with a lasting impression.
2015 LLoyd Chardonnay Carneros

2015 LLoyd Chardonnay Carneros

After nearly a decade making one of California's most loved Chardonnays for Rombauer Winery, Rob Lloyd decided to start his own (much) much smaller private label. Barrel-fermented, aged on the lees, this is certainly a rich and toasty style chardonnay. There is plenty of luscious flavors of stone and tropical fruits combined with lingering notes of vanilla and spice.
2015 Merry Edwards, Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River

2015 Merry Edwards, Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River

Merry Edwards' sauvignon blanc is consistently among the top two or three produced in the United States. What sets it apart is its remarkable complexity, structure and harmony. Texturally, the wine exhibits a rich, oily mouthfeel, but with firm acidity and telltale traces of minerality. In a word, this vintage of Merry Edwards sauvignon blanc is positively brilliant and delicious.
