Feb 11th 2010 At V Wine Cellar, we believe in being a dynamic wine tasting bar and patio salon. Our wines by the glass change on a daily basis, reflecting the weather, small plates selection and general ambiance of the Napa Valley. If you're really interested in something in particular, we're likely to open it for tasting.
One particular day in July, we offered up some cellar favorites:

Farella Park Merlot, Napa Valley, 2004
Proving why Merlot never left! This full bodied  wine shows off soft, elegant tannins, excellent structure for aging and a long, supple finish. Look for plum & cassis with cedar, smoke and spice.

Vice Versa, "La Petite Vice", 2006
Paul Hobbs produces a beautifully balanced Cabernet Sauvignon that comes forward with blackberry and dark cherry before moving along into notes of dark chocolate, black pepper, sandalwood & vanilla. Complexity well beyond the price point.

Road 31 Pinot Noir, Napa Valley, 2007
Made by our good friend Kent Fortner, this 800 case production offers up his best efforts yet. At V Wine Cellar, we love Pinot Noir and this Pinot is spirited, with a deep undercurrent of dark fruit, racey acid and wonderful aromas of cola, cherry and coffee accents.

Gamba Old Vine Zinfandel "Gamba Estate Vineyard", Russian River Valley, 2007
Classic expression of Old Vine Zin with an additional layer of lush fruit. This wine is well structured, restrained and balanced. Blueberries, pomegranate and white pepper in the nose and palate.

Thomas Michael Syrah, Suisun Valley, 2003
Rich blackberry, blueberry & huckleberry with high notes of earl grey bergamot, leather and forest floor aromas. Luscious mid palate with a lingering and powerful finish.

Acus Chardonnay, Arroyo Grande, 2007
Unfiltered and viscous with a rich buttery pear, toasty biscuits and hints of tropical fruit. Grippy tanins interlace the broad offering, lending structure and fine balance.

Fog Dog Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, 2007
An elegant & beautiful representation of Sonoma Coast Chardonnay.  Lean & crisp with honeysuckle, lemon zest and light stonefruit. Refreshing in the mouth with striking acidity followed by a complex layer of flinty coastal fruit.

Toquade Sauvignon Blanc, Yountville, Napa Valley, 2008
"Toquade" is a pure, unfined expression of Sauvignon Blanc fruit from a single vineyard in Napa Valley. With grapefruit, passion fruit, lychee and mango notes, a crisp entry and creamy mid pallet this wine comes to a crescendo in a finish with exotic fruit.
